Episode 111: OC Search + MBB streak dies+ Beat Southern Cal Week (Basketball '24 edition)

What's up Bruin fam! BS is back with a jam-packed, brand new episode. We chat about the football side of things and look at the OC search and some names being thrown around for the role. We also dive into UCLA MBB's win-streak coming to an end with a brutal, buzzer beating L against Utah, and the upcoming rivalry game against the hated Southern Cal Trojans. Lastly, we quickly cover WBB's own heartbreaking loss to OSU last week. 

Episode 110: The Deshaun Foster Era Begins

New coach, new episode! We've got a ton of UCLA football to discuss in this one: Chip's final days and exit, Deshaun Foster being named Head Coach and why the Bruin community needs to rally around him immediately. Episode 108: There's a Pulse Folks!

Bruin Source is back in 2024 after a little holiday hiatus! We have a lot to talk about in this one, including the Salt Lake Slaughter and the post-Slaughter signs of life, including one of the most unhinged games of all time (looking at you Bobby Hurley and ASU). Episode 107: LA Bowl Preview

Bowl season is officially upon us and UCLA has the distinct privilege of playing in one of the earliest (and straight up weirdest) bowls of the year in the LA Bowl. We talk about the state of the roster going into this game, some major roster news and what winning (or losing) would mean for the program. 

We also chat about UCLA MBB's recent L to Villanova in Philly. We're not quite ready to hit the panic button yet, but this team's got its work cut out for it! Lastly, we quickly chat about WBB steamrolling teams and staying at that #2 spot. It's a packed ep, so buckle in!

Episode 106: The Hits Keep on Coming

In this episode of BS, we chat about how the UCLA football program continues to crumble. This time, we discuss D'anton Lynn's defection, DC expectations, transfer portal out of Westwood heating up and some quick LA Bowl notes. Episode 105: All Hope is Lost

Everything with UCLA football feels broken. Leadership is broken. The fanbase is broken. the paths forward are closed and there doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel. In this episode we discuss the overall state of the program, the new depths we've fallen to, the future of UCLA football, how Martin Jarmond has bungled the Chip Kelly situation and why he may not be the AD we need at UCLA.

While football is in shambles, basketball is showing some great signs of life! We chat about some of our (mostly positive!) takeaways from MBB's very tough showing at the Maui Invitational and why we think this experience will pay off in the future. We also chat about the #2 ranked women's team, their recent triumph over UCONN and how every man, woman and child should be packing Pauley for their games. Check this all out right here!

Episode 104: LA is Blue + Maui Invitational

What a glorious weekend for Bruin alum and fans- UCLA marched into the Coliseum and absolutely demolished the Trojans like the trash they are. Hope you all are flexin' on any Trojans you know! We chat about how the Bruins won this game, what we think that may mean for Chip Kelly's tenure at UCLA (hint: we still think he should be fired) and quickly chat about Cal. 

On the other side of the coin, we chat about the 1st game of the Maui Invitational and UCLA's first loss of the season to #4 Marquette. While nobody likes a L, we chat about how these Bruins took it to Marquette, looked like the much better team for long stretches, how the team is much further progressed than we thought and ultimately, why we should be encouraged for the long-term prospects of this team. Episode 103: Beat $C Week- The Fire Chip Edition

In what is usually a week full of fanfare and fun, Beat $C week is feeling incredibly drab and depressing this year. Why? Cuz it's officially time to give ol' Chip Kelly the boot and take UCLA football in a new direction. We chat about the abomination of a football game against ASU, why Chip 100% must be fired as soon as humanly possible and a preview dumpster fire vs. dogshit fire in this year's edition of the Battle for the Victory Bell.

 

Not all is lost in Bruin land though! UCLA MBB played their second game of the season and came out with an up and down W to bring them to 2-0. We also discuss what we took away from this game and what we'd like to see going into game 3. Lastly, we quickly chat about #3 UCLA WBB and how Cori Close and crew are poised to make some major noise this year.

It's officially basketball season, meaning we can distract ourselves from the trainwreck that is UCLA football...That being said, in this ep we (sadly) chat about the football beating at the hands of Arizona, why UCLA needs to FIRE CHIP KELLY and quickly preview the game against ASU.
